Most of the sega and konami arcade staples of my childhood (late 90s/early 2000s) used one off peripherals for a given series of machines.
If not peripherals, then fucked control schemes and the game would give you cards and you would need to scan the cards to do better at the game.
These things don't really translate well to consoles or PC, and generally are quite niche to begin with.
Who the fuck is genuinely going to buy a gun peripheral to play some on rails shooter? If its not the one for the specific game series it kind of defeats the point - and not many people would genuinely commit to wanting all that shit in the first place.
