When you actually think about it, this is both a love and hate thing.
Yes, obviously there's genuine interest in Nintendo games and let's be real - they do make good games that are often above average, even if you personally don't like them or don't like all of them.
But also the native PC ports and emulation efforts and all that also comes from a disdain western gaymers have against the japanese company. There's this kinda one-sided rivalry between some PC guys against Nintendo because in their mind, games should be free/cheap/etc and Nintendo obviously has this very strict controlled/corporate approach... Same as every other console manufacturer really but Nintendo I feel gets an extra animosity maybe because of their family friendly image, or because it's still the video game company with the least westernern inluence.
Whatever the case might be, all the effort people put into making emulators of Nintendo systems and now native PC ports of their games is also a way to "own" nintendo. Like "haha! See? I can olay your games without even having to emulate your console!"
