Okami is an outstanding game brought down by some critical flaws.
>Pacing is terrible
My last 100% playthrough was only 36 hours but it felt twice as long. Being told there's more gameplay and more things to see and find should be met with excitement rather than "seriously? It's not over?"
>Writing
Way too much repetition. Maybe it's because they were aiming at a younger crowd but the incessant repetition like it's been mentioned really takes a toll. I've seen some people complain about Issun being a horndog but it's pretty tame. Like Master Roshi being horny.
>Combat
I don't know if it was a technical limitations but I really disliked how fights took place in a little pocket dimension. Sure you could avoid it and even run from it once inside but I think it slows the game down even more than it already is. Plus the combat itself rarely felt that in-depth to justify the focus on it and enemy variety was lacking coupled with a camera that you have to wrangle around like a wild horse.
>Dungeons
Or lack thereof. The game seems like it's heavily inspired by Zelda but forgot to take one of its key features. Most dungeons are just straightaways broken up with combat and some slight platforming. There's a decent amount of sidequests with some puzzle solving spread throughout the world and those I found the most fun to do.
