Not that I care, but taking in huge spoilers and then mostly forgetting them obviously contradicts with "completely dry".

Anyway I like the game because I played it as a kid with other kids helping, and that was a fun experience. I probably wouldn't be very impressed with it if I were to encounter it for the first time today. Great music, very intriguing atmosphere, weak everything else. I guess the cool parts of it would probably drive me to persist for a while, but I'd either lose interest once I realized how many mansions I had ahead of me or get stuck at one of the famously awkward "puzzle" spots.
