Hello, and welcome to another week of fun unveiling of the map of Project Casar. In this week’s Tinto Maps we will be taking a look at South East Asia, so without further ado let’s get started.
Quite a variety of countries in the area. The regional power in the decades before 1337 was the Khmer Empire, although at this point they are already in decline and have lost much of their previous hegemony. On the west, the fall of the Burmese Pagan Kingdom and the following Mongol invasions gave rise to the disunited kingdoms of Pinya, Sagaing, Prome, and Toungoo, while in the south the Mon kingdom of Hanthawaddy (also known as Pegu) also split apart. On the center, the decline of the old Lavo Kingdom and its subjugation to the Khmer gave way to the emergence of the Kingdom of Sukhothai when Khmer started its decline too, and Sukhothai is emerging as the dominant Thai kingdom in the area. However, Ayodhya is already gestating the rise of another great kingdom, as King Ramathibodi, the founder of the Ayutthaya Kingdom is already poised to gain power in the region. On the east coast, the Kingdom of Đại Việt is under the orbit of the Yuán, with constant conflict with the southern Hindu kingdom of Champa. I've played a bit of Civ4 before. Is this anything like it or does it play different? You already have enough score for the month. Why not sit back and watch the geoscape spin for a little while?

> What are your favorite base units?
Warriors?
Rangers?
Rogues?
Wizards?
<Rangers, definitely. They're fast, exploration-prone, ranged, brave but not suicidal. Perfect early game units.>
<Wizards can become demigods, but 95% of them die before that point. Also you need a keep upgrade to get them.>
<Warriors are shit. They're slow, dumb, and surprisingly cowardly. Even as meatshields, Veteran guards outclass them.>
<Rogues are also undesirable. Sure, they have poison and can serve as pseudo-tax-collectors, but they are so cowardly.>
> What are your favorite temple units

<Elves mess up my intended tax collection routes and distract heroes.>
<The less said about g*omes the better.>
<The dwarves let me change the game genre to tower defense, but nothing else about them really interests me.>
<Dwarves I guess, by virtue of being the least offensive option.>
> What's your favorite God?

Post stuff about mods for Hoi4
Previous Thread: >>1881161 DLC coming in 3 weeks, how are you growing your factory today? Is there a modern strategy game that caused more damage to the perception of historically accurate medieval combat?
>bows are inferior to crossbows, the latter can easily penetrate steel armor
>if you put plate on, you move like a turtle
>pikemen don't use pikes Hello /vst/, 2 years ago I made a post asking this board what an ideal Grand Strategy game would like. Because of my exposure to paradox games, namely Hoi4 and to a lesser extent Victoria 2, I approached the question by proposing a game that combined the merits of both of these two games. I still hold this perspective, and after a recent renewed interest in this subject, I propose a game that could successfully do the following:
1: Combine the military aspects of Hoi4 with the economic aspects of Victoria 2.
2: "Easy to learn, hard to master'- a low learning curve while still allowing complexity, variety, and difficulty in gameplay.
3. An actually functioning ONLINE multiplayer
4. "Better incentive player creativity"- As in, make modding easier and add in game customization as well.
To expand on these points:
1: I'm not proposing that this hypothesized game should simply mash Hoi4 and Victoria 2 together. What I am saying is that this ideal grand strat should be just as engaging militarily as Hoi4 is, while also being as engaging economically as Victoria 2 is. I believe this can be achieved in a way that isn't conflicting.
2: Grand strat games tend to have a high barrier to entry for new players, both in terms of learning the game and also affording it (think of the many DLCs one would need to buy to even begin playing one of these games). This can be remedied by automating the gameplay via "bureaucrats" (i.e. characters) and having the player learn by un-automating and automating functions as they please. This might sound stupid, but in practice it would be very effective in getting players to feel comfortable interacting with the game at their own pace without the fear of messing something up and having to restart/wanting to give up.
(continued...) OSHA violation edition.
Generals now unbanned edition. I see the possibility of exploiting this part of the tree by fully mobilizing your army. My intuition tells me it's cheaper to make a full infantry army of 30w motorized infantry with 2 motorized artillery and a support company of super heavy artillery (which is just art 3 but more expensive). This allows you to get all the benefits of the infantry bonuses while maintaining the speed of motorized warfare. You could either go down the motorized infantry branch of the mobile warfare doctrine or go for grand battleplan. Missing 2 -50% doctrine bonuses isn't a big deal. Mobile warfare will give you helpful speed bonuses, even better because motorized infantry get huge bonuses from percent increases. 10km/h + 10% is huge, and that stacks with other bonuses in your tree. Or go for grand battleplan for the big stat increases.
Definitely add on a logistics company, a helicopter hospital company (because infantry takes lots of casualties on the offensive) and a maintenance company. Go for minimizing fuel usage and production cost in your MIOs.
I'll be trying this out myself soon. See how it goes. Frog DLC dropping withing the hour

Does anyone have any guidance as to how many "infrastructure" buildings I should build, by which I mean things like barracks, conscription centres, universities, and government administrations? What are your thoughts about it? How the fuck does this work. I did not go to college for economics. does anyone else still play this or is it just me? So we got the probably final roster for Civ 7. What are you takes on this. Are you a UEF, Aeon, or Cybran guy? why does no one talk about shadow empire? I'm about to try it. https://www.anno-union.com/devblog-cultural-crossroads-in-the-provinces/
>decide whether your people become TRVE ROMAN CITIZENS or remain Eternal Anglos. Whats the verdict? Why did the JA2 autists not like it? Currently trying to wrap my head around Fall of the Republic. I remember playing Corey's mods almost a decade ago and they were nowhere near as robust as this. There's a fuckton of new mechanics to the point I feel like I'm relearning the game entirely. Trying to play as CIS but I'm getting my ass kicked.
I'm kinda thinking about going back to the original Republic at War just for the classic gameplay of steamrolling everything with a deathstack until you encounter the enemy deathstack.
What are some underrated mods for this game? Also, EaW thread I guess. You haven't been automating your formers, have you anon? Closed beta is up
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmLtUalHvlI Could BAR be the game that make RTS cool again? I think this is the right path.

>even fun to watch
>probably the RTS with more qualities of life

>terrain matters a lot
>good optimized engine that can run on a potato
Probably the only "flaw" is the unities designs and their plastic toy look, but who cares if the games is good to play? The game has also enough content as a single player only game with a bunch of scenarios, they should just slap a basic bitch campaign with a loose plot that stitch them together to appease the whiny "no story mode no buy" SPcels (that want muh epic campaign/lore so bad) and put it on Steam and it could be a success RTSbros we mustn't lose hope

Actual Warsaw pact additions never What's the best way to play these in 2024? Is piracy the only way? Looks like Blizzard doesn't sell it anymore... only Reforged. I only care about playing through the campaigns really, not local or online multiplayer.
I know everyone hated Reforged a lot, but:
>Why SPECIFICALLY did people hate it so much?
>Was it never fixed, either by Blizzard or modders?
I don't mind buying it on sale for $15 if it can be made into a good experience, but if it's still completely irredeemable then I guess I'll just have to resort to piracy. Been wanting to replay this and noticed there's a bunch of romhacks for it now, has anyone here tried any of them? Hard Mode+, Reconquered, and Twin Dragons seem like the most interesting to me. this game is amazing, but why the fuck does it have that shitty 4x part? why can't they just make it a story game with missions right after the other and you buy/upgrade ships? So we can all agree that this is the best Civ game, and maybe even best 4x game of all time right? >Humxnkind flopped so hard they've been forced to fix ES2 and hand out EL for free on Steam

Battle bros thread, menace talk also cause why the fuck not. Found any sexy famed items lately? Would subsims be considered /vst/ material? Admittedly, they focus on single unit tactics, as opposed to fleet action. But they still don't feel like action games.
Also SH:CE thread, if anybody other than me has ever played it. We will get a new game one day, right? I was playing eu3 a bit recently and it's actually really fun with Divine Wind. Doing shit like forcing personal unions is simple but fun and intuitive, and the minmaxing with sliders, national ideas and advisors is just complex enough to be stimulating while not being convoluted.
But when I go on the Steam community page for the game out of curiosity (idk where else people would post recently about the game) it's just a bunch of BRICS denizens posting in Spanish or screenshots in cyrillic swamp runes. Are Westerners just unable to appreciate something "outdated" even when it's objectively good? What is the optimal number of units under player control in a turn based tactics game? How much is too much? How much is too few?
I'm asking about a strategy game like Old-Com, not about a CRPG with turn based combat like ToEE or BG3. Old thread hit bump limit. >>1756158
What are some fun advanced infantry nations that aren't BOS or Enclave? Game of victoria 2 where I played as the Dutch, teamed up with Russia, broke Germany up and turned them into puppets. After that I went to war with Italy who was allied to Australia, got 100 hundred war score and then annexed Australia without landing a single soldier there. Pretty awesome, I was playing crimea mod btw. A game where you just travel the map as a mercenary/merchant.
I enjoy Warband's the map interactions, but I dislike all 3D shit like walking town, fighting in battles, hunting down outlaws.

Abysmal performance is also a paradox for me (get it, cause it was published by pdx), game looks like something from 2008 yet constantly uses 70++% of CPU/GPU even when theres nothing on screen, every menu lags, its fucking 2d text window but opening it has noticeable delay, i just started the game theres nothing in the hangar, wtf. My spearheads just can't stop, wtf? In most games when India is represented it is used for Mughals but Mughals are not Indian.
In Civilization the Indian Civilization builds Mughal fort but Mughals are not Indian.
While Age Of Empires 2 corrected their Indian to represent true India in Age Of Empires 4 India is the Delhi Sultanate which is not Indian is Iranian.
Why is Indian history erased when there are many much more powerful and impressive Indian empire? Just got this baby running. Are there any good mods for it? I already got the 4.11 patch and TAK Plus installed. Azurian race mod seems to give me errors, so I uninstalled it. Gigachad Łukasz Jakowski finally fucking released it!! Are they gonna kill him off?
I’m hoping they don’t since they could do a lot with the character Lovecraftian city builder launching into early access in a few days. Just played through the demo and I thought it was very well done, fairly standard gameplay but with some thematically appropriate wrinkles and no annoying quirks that often plague this genre. Is pic related not shit yet or have they not patched it since release?
any recommendation for good melee focused TBTs? I have played Knight Arthur Knight's Tale but burned out by chapter 4, and Legion IX, finished that but I fucking hated it and myself for ever being excited for it. sc2 is dead
we only have brood war Big update is out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6sUn-QHmKo >Follow the same build order every game
>Adjust it with another build order after you scout
>The only ""skill"" barrier is APM, so if you can't mash as hard as the other player you lose
Wow what a great genre So glad I bought into the hype. I uninstalled after 10 mins. I will not reinstall until it's finished (20 years time) I will not relearn changed mechanics with every patch. Are trade cities worth using? Like, if I conquer Constantinople and Atene as Venice, I have to pay a lot of admin points to core them. Is it worthwhile to just give them to trade cities? I google searched it and people had conflicting views. What do you want to do with it?
