I played jagged alliance 3 and this feels like night and day, not one fight felt this tense or realistic (I know it is not really realistic, but compared to 3 it doesn't feel as "gamey") What are some RTS or grand strategy games that feature modern air combat? I'm thinking of trying it because it's on sale, I was a big fan of Victoria 2 but always hated how it encouraged you to become a socialist/liberal democracy at the end of the game to maximize pop growth and the economy.
Looking over the artwork for Victoria 3 this game looks to be that but dialed up to 11. How bad is it? Is playing a reactionary absolute monarchy viable or are you bottlenecked until you enact the reforms the developers want you to take? Steam Summer Sale thread: /vst/ edition It's Something edition

Let's discuss the best Total War game of all time: Medieval II Total War
Released nearly 20 years ago M2TW continues to set the gold standard for real time tactical battles and strategy games.
While providing a complete experience in the base game and supplemented by 4 expansion campaigns the game truly shines because of the numerous high quality mods developed by the community in the years since release.
This thread provides an opportunity for the enjoyers of this magnificent achievement in strategy gaming to discuss their favorite aspects, favorite mods, share tips, tricks, comments, complaints, or simply post AARs for their current campaign
Some of my favorite mods:
>Stainless Steel
A truly vanilla+ experience. Highly recommenced for an improved medieval experience without changing the underlying gameplay too much
https://www.moddb.com/mods/stainless-steel/
>Divide and Conquer
Very high quality Lord of the Rings mod. An expansion of the original Third Age Mod DaC adds bugfixes, new units, new factions, and more detailed and impactful scripts
https://www.moddb.com/mods/divide-and-conquer/
>Europa Barbarorum 2
A very detailed, in depth, and historically accurate depiction of the ancient world beginning in the late 3rd century BC and featuring the wars of the Diadochi, The Punic Wars, and the fall of Pyrrus.
https://www.moddb.com/mods/europa-barbarorum-2
>Tsardoms
Focusing on the Balkan region this extremely detailed and high quality mod depicts the end of the medieval period and the beginning of the renaissance era with two seperate start dates, one in the 14th and another in the 15th century showcasing the rise of the Ottoman Empire, the fall of Constantinople, the start of the Italian Wars, and more.

>Insularis Draco
A very focused and detailed mod which focuses on the fall of the roman empire and start of the dark ages in North Western Europe

>back to the endless Warhammer slop Diplomacy update public beta out NOW When i was little i saw my brother play a rts that i cant remember the name of.
It had a kinda cartoony goofy medieval art style and i remeber it had much less units one the field then compared to age of empires 2 or starcraft while still beaing a rts. I saw this game many years ago so i dont remember anything else about and my brother doesnt remeber ever playing it.He played the game about 10+ years ago but i remeber it looking really fun and want to try it out.
The campaign on hard depends 100% on luck and RNG instead of skill and it's insanely frustrating.
Update: I have now completed all 81 missions on hard. It was SO BAD.
Every mission was a WHAT WERE THEY THINKING moment. These are insane puzzles that require you to cheese and savescum like you have never cheesed and savescummed before. Awful AI and pathing, no build missions are pure torture because there's so much RNG and micro is almost impossible in this 1995 game.
It was nonetheless pretty satisfying when you slowly figure out how to sandbag into the enemy's base and destroy them from within. Do not be ashamed of sandbagging, believe me the game deserves much worse abuse and I would cheese more if I could. Music is fine. I really like the atmosphere too. A side note is you should always play on fastest because normal speed causes the enemy air strike to be much less frequent and makes the game easier, or so I heard.
When it comes to Red Alert, although a lot more people prefer this expansion, I find it much more boring than the base game. The puzzle element is no longer there. The pace is much faster. You can no longer chill behind the safety of sandbags, and now it's just tanks tanks tanks. The enemy can hoard army indefinitely and only attack with free spawns, and because of resource limit you can head into a dead end if you don't win fast enough. And again, tanks beat everything every game so it was just boring. The atmosphere is pretty boring too and I much prefer the original's sci and mystery element. >Essential downloads:

Personally I am cautiously optimistic about EU5, but there's also Espiocracy and Gilded Destiny that both look very cool. The former takes place during the cold war and puts you in charge of an intelligence agency instead of a country which is an interesting take, and the later seems like it'll be a more traditional grand strategy game set in the industrial age. I can see the hex grid irking some people of but I love how the game takes place on a globe instead of a flat map. Ok 2nd run on this fucking thing.

Both are the same game on the same version (51.xx). The free version uses ASCII as a tileset (but you can mod other usermade tilesets and graphic packs)
With the premium version you pay for a premium tileset + premium OST + access to beta branches and steam integration (if on steam).

I'v been replaying the DS version of Age of Empire recenlty, its great. Its a weird mix of AoE with turn based mechanics looking like Advance Wars and for some reason the game works beautifully.
There are nice campaigns and nice map with special scenarios like Hannibal's crossing or Agincourt battle.
I know there is "Mythologies" but the a-historical setting never appealed to me, it also seems like the Age of Kings has cut factions with all the merc special unit like Danes, Chinese, Celts, and more.

How fares your empire /gsg/?
This week in history:
July 6, 1938 – The Évian Conference opens on July 6, 1938, discussing Jewish refugees fleeing Nazi Germany. Most countries refuse to accept more Jews.
July 7, 1942 – Jews of Rovno (Rivne, Ukraine) are rounded up and later massacred at Sosenki forest by German forces.
July 8, 1941 – Lviv pogrom ends with estimates of 4,000–7,000 Jews murdered by Ukrainian nationalists and German Einsatzgruppen.
July 9, 1941 – Białystok massacres: Daluege addressed policemen gathered at the city stadium, emphasizing their role in the mission to destroy Bolshevism. He declared their campaign as crucial, stating, "No other campaign is as important as yours. Now Bolshevism will finally be eradicated, for the greater good of Germany, Europe, and the entire world."
July 10, 1941 – The Jedwabne massacre: where hundreds (estimates range from 300 to 1,600) Jews are burned alive in a barn by local Poles under German supervision.
July 11, 1942 – "Black Sabbath" takes place in Salonika, occupied Greece. 9,000 Jewish males from the ages of 18-45 are forcibly assembled at Liberty Square in the center of the city. While they wait standing, they are forced to adopt squatting positions and beaten if they fell over. About 2,000 are sent to do forced labor for the German Nazi regime.
July 12, 1941 – Słonim Ghetto: German units and local collaborators begin conducting a major pogrom, killing several hundred Jews in the first wave of mass executions.

So I raid 30 enemy convoys and yet the enemy is just as strong and I realize logistics only exist for ME.
I've been watching Rust videos and Ark videos lately and seeing clans raid and ambush and recon gets me going.. I like that, but I have a j*b and can't be on 16 hours a day to protect my base. So I looked for games where I can kinda have an offline version of that, and nothing exists. M&B:B fakes their economy, and that's the closest game I found to true logistic systems allowing for actual targeted guerilla strategies. How hard is it to just not fucking spawn resources out of nowhere for the CPU? I have a warband of 110 guys and the only way we can get anything done is cheesing castle sieges and standing on top of a hill in battles? What about literally cutting off the enemies ability to secure horses or pay their men's wages?
TLDR: I need a game where attacking logistics has an impact, and where asymmetrical warfare forces me to do so. Like a Vietcong simulator.
I just wanna ambush ambush ambush

I wanted to get everyone's general opinion on the game, and just discuss mechanics in general, as well as gripe about things we find annoying or that we would like to see changed/added in future titles or updates.
Anyway - Kingdom Rush general - which of the 5 titles is your favorite, least favorite, and why? Input Focus:
>resource patches get specifically reserved for production
>you designate each iron ore patch to iron plate, gear or steel production

Kino, sign me up 4X/grand strategy games that run well/have good controls on the 'eck? I've gotten really into Dune recently, which led me to discover there are Dune RTS games besides the original Dune II.
Lets discuss is it worth it if your into dark age european history, the migration period and the fall of rome? even better than StarCraft or Age of Empires?
I’ve played tons of RTS games over the years — StarCraft II, AoE2 DE, even newer titles like Company of Heroes 3 — but I keep coming back to Zero Hour.
It’s faster than AoE, more explosive than StarCraft, and the generals system adds a unique layer of strategy that I feel is still unmatched.
Yes, it’s a bit janky and outdated in terms of graphics, but no other RTS gives me the same adrenaline rush during late-game battles.
Am I crazy? Or does Zero Hour deserve way more recognition than it gets? KINOOOOOOOOO

"b-but it's popular therefore bad" is not an argument. It's their best game This got quitely released today.
You ARE going to play it, right?
It's free Recently bought this on Gog having not played it since its release.
At the time I thought it was ok but was surprised how much I enjoyed playing it after all these years. Graphics aren't bad, gameplay is fun and the single player is neat and it captures the Warhammer Fantasy feel well. Also doesn't take forever to install unlike TWW3.
Any other MOC fans around? Just got this game from Gog for cheap. It's very charming but my God it is mercilessly difficult. Already ran into trouble in the fifth mission where you get the Amber Wizard and need to face a Rat Ogre.

Explain yourselves, /vst/. Anyone know any good mods? So I tried my first space 4x with Galactic Civilizations 3. But I couldn't get into it, even though I love Civ games. I think it's the freedom of movement in space that just makes it less fun. There aren't really any chokepoints or terrain features to take into account like a terrestrial game has. The only game to solve that was Sins of a Solar Empire with its limited hyperspace links between star systems, but it was more RTS than a true 4X. Is there any turn based space 4X that has similar movement to Sins? Or should I just go back to land based games? Paradox wants your thoughts on the future of CK3 after China.

Hello, and welcome one more Friday to Tinto Flavour, the happy days in which we take a look at the flavour content of Europa Universalis V!
Today, we will take a look at the flavour content for Milan & Naples! Besides being the respective leaders of the Ghibellines and Guelphs IOs, as we saw this Wednesday, they have their own country flavour, as being two of the most important Italian countries of the period. So let’s start without further ado: It fucking sucks, actually. In a way i'd say Shogun 2 Total War can have this, since you can just spam basic or second tier units like Ashigaru and Line Infantry and just beat the whole game with just them and a few cannons. But that's not really Human wave i'd say.
Imagine there was an event where you found the ark of the covenant and it instantly killed you if you were not muslim/Jewish/christian . You got an event chain where you get one of your courtiers to touched it and he instantly died, and this event instantly removed -10,000,000 fervor from all non-abrahamic religions permanently, and whatever religious group discovered it gained 100 fervor.
Maybe even make it so any battle you fought gave you an event to vaporize the entire enemy army but if you or your descendants got a single sinful or crime trait the ark artifact would dissapear and then every single one of your vassals revolted and your neighbors declared war
Or an event chain where biblical judgement day happens and an antichrist spawns on the map with a special government type and peacefully vassalizes everyone then all courtiers under him all converted to his religion and get the mark of the beast, then if you reject you become an unlanded adventurer but are off-map then you get read out the events of apocalypse wich end in the game crashing.
Or maybe even a chain of events where as a gnostic/buddhist ruler if you accumulate over 50,000 piety you go into a coma/regency where you have a chain of events where you either tear a hole through the fabric of reality and instantly convert the entire map to your religion then "die" but all your descendants and friends get 100 stats and 0% stress gain or another where you escape reality and "die" but your character gets literally fucking deleted from the save game so that yor children appear as having no father ITT: strategy games that you and only you have ever played So, I just blew your base to shit with dozens of superheavy tanks. Why? Consult the criteria below:
>it's actually Europe's fault
>you did a Russophobia
>you couldn't face my forces head on so you pounded them with arty like a coward or something
>your triple A kept shooting down my 1700$ helicopters
>Russia is a nation of peace, HOWEVER we must constantly do battle with amerimutts who are always outsmarting us because we're the master race >“Taking place in early December, this show will unveil the new games that you can expect to play in the near and distant future, as well as introduce you to the development teams making them. We’ll have more details to share as we approach the end of the year, but whether you’re a fantasy or history fan, there will be plenty to enjoy! Fuck leavers.
Fuck the no saving in missions.
Buff infantry. Foundation thread.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gQ0D0sEO7ELtUrra99_ApppHGiCYAPqO6zz-Xj3YCz8/edit?usp=sharing What do you think of the new Conquest of Elysium class? what happened to this mod? I saw it was on Steam so I downloaded it but it is absolutely nothing like what I remembered. what is the last unfucked version of this? Has any anon played the game?, is it any good? Which Tropico is best? I've played 3 and 5 only. Discuss the magnificent performance of Soulkey, who has won his fourth ASL in a row earlier today. Given that the meta is much more brutal now than it was in the KeSPA era, with less emphasis on economy and more on aggression, this is definitely the most impressive Zerg performance of all time.
Old thread: >>2000273 can anyone recommend this? I like the idea of a game being the strategic layer mixed with some RPG elements of you having to deal with other officers and higher ups. it does look a little complex and I haven't played any wargames like this before. any good strategy games with /cm/ (cute anime males)? Building a new rig for EU5, always been given the stock response "GPU doesn't matter, go for CPU". Will be getting either a 7800x3d or a 9800x3d, so that's taken care of.
But how shit can you go with GPU? Will an RTX 3050 suffice? How does it cope with Victoria 3? (Haven't played, current PC too shit to run) Don't want to go too cheap and have the game look like dog shit. Time to talk about a franchise that is slowly dying. Rise of Radicalism is one of the mods of all time What happened with the latest Protectors update? Is it so bad that the thread had to die here as well? Are there any games with good naval warfare? Remember our Total War Three Kingdoms threads? ...I'll never forgive them for what they stole from us. Have you been playing the greatest genre in gaming recently?
I've been playing Thronefall. It's fun and nice to look at, but some of the elements of the game feel very limiting.
Some games look visually very historically accurate. But this strife towarda historical accuracy ends here. KCD gets the looks mostly right, bht had a very unusual protagonist, who could beat up the local lord of the town with no consequences and also get filthy rich from selling broken, looted equipment. Manor Lords gets sold as the most historically accurate city builder ever, but it only gets praised for the visuals. The villagers are all equally good at everything, you assign their workplace and domicile like a Communist state planner. No one owns any property. The only population growth us through immigration, because of the limited timescale, but in games like Banished children can reproduce with their parents and close relatives, because they dont bother modelling courtship, genetics and reproduction properly.
When do developers start creating a proper medieveal town builder with inheritance of property, rights and privileges? I want immigrants to be discriminated against, when it comes to accessing "public" land, which turns out is only public for the founding stock and their direct descendents. They refuse to share that privilege. As far as i can tell they seem to be medieval/fantasy type Rimworlds with real 3d building (castles) and they look pretty cool. But i heard Going Medieval has some insanely retarded ai and dogshit combat and Noble Fates made a shitty artstyle and is more fantastical.
Generally i just like the castle/ hamlet building but without the super militaristic gameplay part of Stronghold. Whiz can't get away with this... the gaslight operations are working. cucked. cum and take it! edition
Ambitions not being retroactive is gay though.
>get 12 cripples to quickly get the company going
>this locks me out of 12 men roster ambition
>clear quickly 2 contracts in same settlement day 1
>can't have friendly settlement ambition. Anybody playing this game too? It's a lot better than the first game although the 'western indie game' vibe is kinda high I NEED a Medieval TW III with a resource system Cyber Knights: Flashpoint just got out of the EA.
It's an xcom-like cyberpunk turn-based tactics.
Thoughs? It's Starcraft but with actual strategy instead of reliance on APM and twitch muscle-memory movement.
Never seen an auto battler this deep, 1v1s are fun as hell. Any tacticool game with cute girls on it with a more modern context? Either that or WW2, not fantasy
Not looking for gachaslop either. Games like Reverse Collapse are the type of games I'm talking about >squealin’ like a bunch of buttfucked Tri-Tach mod bitches
Unfuck yourselves. >the ottomans are hard to beat... Why isn't there more finance and economy games? Tycoon games are just mindless builders. What's the best mods for it in the year of our lord 2025? I'm looking for mods that make the AI (both campaign and battle) better and unlock all the minor factions, but I don't want anything that fucks with vanilla balance too much. Spess Strategy bros... How are we holding after HW 3 crashed abd burned?
Are there any good upcoming space strategy games or we will forever be bound to earthy based trifle settings. >"Give us an emperor from humble begginings.. give us a leader our armies will follow!"
I never played Empire Divided or Rome 2 but that trailer was cool as fuck. why does nobody make RTS games with sandbox campaigns? or even 4X style games with RTS battles?
the most popular RTS in the world for normies is Rimworld, and it's an RTS sandbox game, no? and nobody is trying to make something like it 12 years later?
