It was the last turn based game I will take seriously. Ever. From now on the I will choose easy or normal setting. Every Total War Legendary setting is the same once you've mastered Attila. Completing Western Roman Empire on Legendary will be every other Total War grand campaign. I loved Thrones of Brittannia and Troy but they lacked the replayability of Attila. There Legendary setting was just a worse version of Attila.

There are maybe 5 games that will put hair on your chest, make your nuts drop, and make you talk deep like Barry White.

1)Myth and Myth II Soulblighter. Play these in the dark with surround sound.
2)Win a team tournament in Counterstrike with a clan you know in person.
3)Attila Total War WRE on Legendary. While learning to cheese Alans to Iberia is something, WRE no cheese will make you a man. The Total War franchise will be at your feet kneeling in defeat if you can do it with no mods or cheese.
4)The ending of The Darkness. You can watch it on youtube but it is not the same. It is worth a watch even if you never play it. It hit then it still hits today.
5)Parts of the GTA 3, VC, SA.

Honorable mentions to Sid Meirs Pirates Gold!. It is not a man maker but it captures the spirit of a man. Also X Com enemy unknown, there are literally no better turn based games like the DOS Xcom. Playing Golden Eye with friends on a N64 put people can't do that now easily. You just had to be there.

Getting the Alans to Iberia in the not so traditional way was kino. Getting Suebi into Cheese mode was fun. But Legendary WRE no cheese ended my sanity and my hope for another genre definer from the Total War series.

Get it on sale. It will forge you into a man. You just have to play that shit in the dark, going just one more turn, until the sun comes up, and you will know. Then you will never be able to play another turn based game again, because they are all too pussy for you. It just be like that you know.
