My company decided to cut all corners, and use some garbage proof-of-concept some retarded manager did on his spare time.
Imagine a custom database system, but running ENTIRELY on code reflection. It was so fucking slow they had to put time out everywhere even with a meager 10k entries, so whenever you asked for "How many terrorists group are active in this specific region", you could get an incomplete, semi-random list because the time outs would always kick in *way* before the thing could scan all actual entries.
Top management decision: "it's working, and will save us a few weeks compared to setting something from a proper database system: use this thing as-is, non-negotiable".
Of course adding realistic amount of data to that system exponentially worsened the slowness and randomness problems. Reported that myself to top management after my direct supervisor just rolled his eyes with a "don't bother, kiddo" line, because people were actually going to get fucking killed with this crap. Top management's answer when presented with the facts: "not our problem if people dies, as long as we are still within what's actually written in the contracts."

I quit soon after. AFAIK the thing never actually got delivered, thanks God for whatever grunts would have been sent on a mission following data from that system.
