I've been wandering what it would look like if 4chan used a more dynamic layout. Where instead of just one linear progression of inputs, the posts would branch out in a more radial fashion.
Instead of scrolling up/down, it might be more of a 'zoom in/out' type of deal, and hovering over a post would enlarge it, so you could conceivably fit a 300+ post thread on a 1080p monitor, and you just move the cursor along the post you want to read. That way you can choose a thread pace/order that you feel best accommodates your needs. It could have different settings you can en/disable regarding post progression order, such as having visual cues directing you towards the next post according to post number, and it could have an option where it gives directions towards any proceeding posts that link to current post as reference(like the current method uses with >>11223344556677 in the top right corner after post number).
Could perhaps also split off ~1/4-1/3 of the side of the screen so you can have the 'radial mapped posts' on the big side, and on the smol side it follows along on with the standard sequential post #, and could jump around while highlighting the post your cursor is located on the mapped thread.
