There is one verse in Isaiah where a human king is poetically compared to the old Semitic god of Venus, 'Attar, who was called Helel or "bearer of light." His father, Shahar, was the Semitic god of the dawn.
When they translated the Latin Vulgate, they (surprise surprise) used Latin words. In Roman mythology, there is a minor god of Venus just before dawn, named Lucifer. He has no myth and technically is a personification of the planet when visible at this hour, though he is inserted into the family tree of gods. His mother is the goddess of the dawn, Aurora or Eos, the daughter of Hyperion and Theia, sister to Helios and Selene. I guess the Vulgate translators thought that was a close enough parallel to the Semitic myth for their purposes?
The Roman Lucifer (whose name is a translation of the Greek figure he is identical to, Phosphorus or Eosphoros) has a brother named Vesper or Hesperus, who is the god of Venus just after sunset. Lucifer's father varies according to different accounts: Cephalus, son of Hermes (Hyginus Astronomica 2.42), or Astraios, father of the stars and winds (Hesiod Theogony 378, Apollodorus 1.8, Nonnus Dionysiaca 6.18 & 37.70), or Atlas (Tzetzes' commentary on Lycophron 879). The sons of Lucifer are Ceyx and Daedalion, as Ovid tells us. The Roman goddess Venus rules the planet named after her at all hours and regardless of atmospheric conditions.
In the book of Revelation, Jesus calls himself Lucifer. Again, not a name, a translated metaphor. Various goddesses of light used the Greek form as an epithet as well. There is a famous portion of the Latin Easter vigil where Jesus is called Lucifer, much to the glee of paranoid Protestants.
All of this can be easily verified by anyone who cares to research, instead of repeating what their pastor or favorite anime told them.
