As long as the body serves the mind and not the other way around, I don't see why not. However I have a suspicion that in your case there would not be much control of the animal impulses. Once you put enough effort in trying to deny yourself earthly pleasures you will realize how much they control you. Hopefully a desire for liberation from them would follow.
To illustrate, I have no problem in enjoying a nice juicy steak but if there is the smallest reason to choose something else for lunch there is no resistance. Rejecting lust is not so easily done and I would even go as far as to say that it holds quite a lot of power over me which is undesirable. Anyways there is a reason it is among the 7 deadly sins. I am not even a christian, this shit would not make any sense in any religion except like satanism or something.
